Welcome to my site! I am so happy you decided to visit.

My name is Logan Bergeron, and I am currently a student at Auburn University. I am studying Early Childhood Education with plans to become a kindergarten teacher, though I'd happily teach any other grade in my field as well! I decided to go into teaching for many reasons, but some of my biggest ones include:

  • I love to learn in a variety of subjects, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. Sometimes it can be challenging to explain something in a way that others will understand, but the way I see it, that helps both of us grow, because my audience learns something new and I learn how to teach a little better! I am so excited to be both a teacher and a lifelong learner!

  • I love working with kids! I think the early childhood stage of life is so amazing because it is full of potential for learning and growing. Children are so wonderfully curious, creative, and capable. It is awesome to see how they view and explore their world. I want to be there to teach them, play with them, and guide them early on in their incredible experiences of being human!

  • As someone who is very much a child at heart, I've found that I work well with kids. I think it is great to try to see the world through their eyes and meet them closer to their level - sometimes it's not that hard to do, given how small I am! I think my petite stature and caring nature work together to help me appear more approachable to young children than some other adults as well. I also have a very inquisitive, creative, and playful personality, which lends itself well to keeping up with the whims and energy of little kids!

  • Finally, by teaching young children, I will have a hand in directly influencing the future of our world! Since I will be educating the next generation at such an early stage in their lives, I hope to instill in them a love for learning and positive values that they will carry with them as they progress through life. Beyond whatever they may learn, I also want every student that comes through my class to feel important and cared for. Sure, my influence might be a small one, but if I can make a difference for even a few of my students, then maybe I will help make the world a better, kinder place for all!

This website was created for one of my teaching program classes at Auburn, called Fundamentals of Language and Literacy Instruction I (or simply CTRD 3000), the first of a two-part class. I was taught by the awesome Dr. Geri Murray, and we learned research-based strategies for teaching young students to read and write.

As a part of the requirements for our course, my peers and I had to create four complete lesson designs for four different stages of reading, which were then incorporated into this website. The links to each individual lesson of all of the students in this semester's CTRD 3000 classes are included on Auburn University's Reading Genie website, under From the Classroom > Insights (see link below and on the other pages of this site).

The Reading Genie website was created by Dr. Bruce Murray and his wife, Dr. Geri Murray (both professors of Reading Education at Auburn with an extensive background of research on the subject) to help teachers and parents understand and incorporate research-based practices into their reading and spelling instruction for young students. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you are interested! There are many helpful resources on there besides the student-created lessons like the ones you'll find on this site.

Thank you again for checking out my lesson designs!
